Use of AI
To ensure we can fully understand your unique skills, communication style, and decision-making approach, we ask that you complete all parts of the hiring process—including written responses, assessments, and interviews without the use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot). This helps us evaluate your authentic capabilities.
However, it is acceptable to use AI tools to help prepare your CV or resume, including versions tailored for applications in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland, as long as the content accurately reflects your own experiences, skills, and achievements.
Once you’re part of our team, we encourage the use of AI—through approved tools and channels—to help you work more efficiently and effectively.
Application Process
As part of our application process, you’ll be asked a series of questions that support compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations in your country of application, as well as Unum-specific role requirements and conditions of employment. We use technology to help manage this process. These decisions are based on clear guidelines.
Assessments
For some roles, job-related assessments may be part of the selection process. These assessments are designed to evaluate the skills and capabilities needed to be successful in the role and are used consistently for all candidates applying to the same position. We’ll always be transparent about what is being assessed and why.
In certain operational or technical roles, assessments may include pass/fail components to ensure candidates have the necessary foundational skills. In all cases, assessment results are reviewed alongside your CV/resume and interview performance. Reasonable accommodations or adjustments are available in line with applicable disability and equality legislation in your region (e.g., the ADA in the US, the Equality Act in the UK, and the Employment Equality Acts in Ireland).
